Borussia Dortmund – Borussia M’gladbach
Borussia Dortmund hosts Borussia M’gladbach in a derby game from the first round of the Bundesliga. These two teams are usually giving us some great performances, so let’s take a look at it.
Borussia Dortmund won comfortably their first game for the season. Die Borussen paid a visit to Duisburg in a match from the DFB Pokal and enjoyed a solid 5-0 win. The new signing Jude Bellingham scored his first goal for the club while Sancho, Hazard, Reyna and Reus also put the ball in the net.
The Belgian international Thomas Meunier made his official debut for Borussia Dortmund. The right back will have the tough task to replace Achraf Hakimi. It won’t be easy because Hakimi is a great player, but Meunier is experienced and a proven quality.
The manager Lucien Favre could make some changes for the first Bundesliga game. Against Duisburg he left Julian Brandt and Thomas Delaney on the bench, but don’t be surprised if you see them in action on Saturday.
Borussia M’gladbach also won their DFB Pokal game last week. Marco Rose’s boys paid a visit to Oberneuland and achieved a stunning 8-0 win. Let’s be fully precise here, though – they didn’t actually paid them a visit, because the game was played at the Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach.
Florian Neuhaus and Patrick Herrmann scored brace for M’gladbach, while Elvedi, Bensebaini, Hofmann and Traore also put the ball in the next for Borussia.
Maybe Borussia Dortmund are a slight favourite against Borussia M’gladbach, but we don’t think there’s much of a difference between these two teams in terms of quality. That’s why we think we should expect a solid game here, despite the lack of fans because of the coronavirus. These two teams know how to score a lot of goals, so maybe we should aim for a high-scoring one here.
