Burnley – Tottenham

Burnley hosts Tottenham in a game from the 19th round of the Premier League.

Who’d have thought that in this time of the season Burnley would be ahead of Tottenham in the league standings? Probably nobody, but this is the reality. Burnley are currently 6th in the Premier League with 32 points, while Tottenham are 7th with 31 points. Both things are a surprise – Burney’s inspiring performance and Tottenham being on such a position in the league.

Burnley’s record so far is 9 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses. This team really deserves compliments about the way it’s performing so far. When the season started, everyone expected that Burnley will fight against relegation. But now they are a contender even for a Top 4 finish and a qualification for the Champions League. If they continue to perform like this, of course. This is the big question here – can they keep up with this performance until the end of the campaign?

In their last five matches Burnley won three times, made one draw and lost once. In its last game Burnley shared the points with Brighton & Hove Albion with a 0-0 draw away from home.

Tottenham on the other hand have a record of 9 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. Everyone thought that Spurs would be a contender for the title, but now things are looking different. Mauricio Pochettino’s team was unable to find the consistency, needed for a challenge for the first place. Now the realistic goal for Spurs is a finish in the Top 4 and another qualification for the Champions League.

In its last five matches Tottenham won two times, lost twice and made one draw. In their last game Spurs were beaten by Manchester City in a serious fashion – 1-4 at the Etihad Stadium.
