Deportivo Alaves – Atletico Madrid

Deportivo Alaves hosts Atletico Madrid in a match from the 35th round of the Spanish La Liga. Here is our take on this match.

Deportivo Alaves are 13th in La Liga with 41 points won so far. They have a record of 13 wins, 2 draws and 19 defeats since the beginning of the season. There was a time when Alaves was in a serious trouble and in a big risk, but with time they managed to stabilize their performances and save themselves from relegation.

In their last five matches Alaves won three times, made one draw and suffered only one defeat against Girona at home.

Atletico Madrid are 2nd in La Liga with 72 points, but trailing on 11 points behind the leader Barcelona. If Atletico make a mistake in this match, they will officially make Barcelona champions, even before the Catalans play against Deportivo La Coruna later the same day.

Right now Atletico have a record of 21 wins, 9 draws and 4 losses. They tried to fight for the title, but Barcelona are just too strong for everyone else in Spain this season. Of course, Atletico would like to keep their 2nd place in the league standings. Right now they have 4 points advantage in front of the current champion Real Madrid. For them it would be a huge pleasure to finish ahead of the Los Blancos.

During the week Atletico had a tough Europa League game against Arsenal in London. Most surely they will think about the rematch which is going to be played at the Wanda Metropolitano next week. In other words, we shall expect to see Diego Simeone giving a well deserved rest to some of his key players in Alaves.

This is our take on the La Liga game between Deportivo Alaves and Atletico Madrid.
