Fenerbahce – Adanaspor

Fenerbahce travels to meet Adanaspor in the last round of the Turkish Super Lig, having just one goal in mind – winning the game and making sure that they are going to finish 3rd in the final standings.

Right now Fenerbahce are 3rd in the Super Lig, but having the same amount of points as historic rivals Galatasaray. This means that if they make a wrong step in the last game, they could lose the 3rd spot to the other Istanbul giant.

Not that there’s a huge difference between 3rd and 4th place – both of them guarantee Europa League football, but it’s a matter of prestige to finish in front of your big rival.

And it’s hard to believe that Fenerbahce will mistep against Adanaspor. Adanaspor proved to be the weakest team in the league this season, having occupied the last 18th place in the standings. They have won just 6 of their matches during the campaign, losing 20 of them. And conceding 59 goals in the process.

Fenerbahce are the clear favourite to win this clash, but even if they do, it won’t make their season better in any way. It’s dissapointing for them to lose the fight for the title once again. And not just doing that, but also being out of the Top 2, which means being out of the Champions League. They were outperformed by champions Besiktas and contender Istanbul Basaksehir, so their management will have to make a good judge on the situation during the summer.

As for Adanaspor, next year they will participate in the 1. Lig, trying to get back to the Super Lig. They performed too mediocre to stay in the Turkish elite, so it was a season to forget for them.

Can Fenerbahce win against the weakest team in the Turkish Super Lig Adanaspor and beat Galatasaray for the 3rd place? We expect to. But let’s wait and see.
