Inter Milan – Fiorentina
We are heading to the Stadio San Siro where Inter Milan will host Fiorentina in a game from the 1/4-finals of the Coppa Italia. Napoli and Juventus already reached the 1/2-finals, so let’s see which one of these two teams will follow them.
Inter Milan progressed to the Coppa Italia 1/4-finals after a convincing 4-1 win over Cagliari at the San Siro. In this game the manager Antonio Conte gave rest to many of his key players, but despite of this the Nerazzurri dominated and secured the win. Romelu Lukaku started the match and scored twice, while Borja Valero and Andrea Ranocchia also scored.
Inter Milan’s priority this season is obviously the Serie A, so we expect to see Conte once again giving a shot to the people he uses more rarely. Players like Alexis Sanchez, Andrea Ranocchia, Federico Dimarco, Danilo D’Ambrosio and the new signing Victor Moses could start from the first minute.
Fiorentina qualified for the 1/4-finals of the Coppa Italia after eliminating the previous season’s finalist Atalanta. These two teams met at the Artemio Franchi and La Viola enjoyed a 2-1 win. Patrick Cutrone and Pol Lirola scored for the hosts, who finished the game with 10 men after German Pezzella’s red card.
It seems that right now Fiorentina are in a good shape. They are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, winning three of them. Clearly the new manager Giuseppe Iachini brought to his players some confidence that was missing during the tenure of Vincenzo Montella.
We expect to see both Inter Milan and Fiorentina doing some experiments in their line-ups for this game from the 1/4-finals of Coppa Italia. Of course, it doesn’t mean that the game at the San Siro won’t be fun to watch. It’s just the fact that Italian teams are rarely prioritizing this competition.
