Israel – Spain
Israel hosts Spain in a match from Group G of the World Cup qualifiers in Europe.
Spain already won this group. La Roja have been almost perfect so far, winning 8 games and losing points just once – during the draw with Italy. They won the battle with the Azzuri for the first place and now they can celebrate their qualification for the World Cup. And play their last game without any pressure.
Israel meanwhile are 4th in this group, being on just a point behind the 3rd Albania. On theory they could win the third place in the group, but they need to beat Spain to do that. And although they are the home team here, this is a really difficult task. Spain have been almost flawless in this campaign and it’s difficult to think that they are going to lose any points. But who knows? They have already qualified for the World Cup, so they could relax a little bit.
Spain are changing their team after the resignation of Vicente del Bosque. They have a new manager, new players and a new beginning at general. They are trying to find once again the inspiration which allowed them to win three major tournaments in a row between 2008 and 2012. And so far they are showing that they are pretty close to doing it.
Isco is the big inspiration in Spain’s team at the moment. The Real Madrid midfielder is showing a truly terrific form since the start of the season. He’s already taking the torch from Andres Iniesta, turning himself to Spain’s most influental midfielder. He’s surely one of the names to watch during the World Cup.
Now Spain will have enough time to build their team for the Word Cup and games like this one are going to be useful in this regard.
