Lecce welcomes Roma

Lecce welcomes Roma at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare in a match from the sixth rond of the Serie A.

A newcomer in the Serie A this season, Lecce managed to escape the relegation zone of the league during the week. This happened after a 3-1 win during the visit to SPAL at the Stadio Paolo Mazza. Marco Mansocu scored two penalty kicks for the visitors, while Marco Calderoni added one more goal for the win. This was Lecce’s second win for the season. Right now they are 14th in the league with 6 points won, but just two points above the relegation zone.

It’s a really curious fact that Lecce won both of their wins so far away from home – against SPAL and Torino. In the same time they have two losses from two games played at home. This is something which surely worries them before the game against Roma on Sunday. Can they change this tendency now?

Roma are approaching this match after suffering their first loss for the season. The Wolves hosted Atalanta at the Olimpico during the week, but conceded a 0-2 defeat. Both goals were scored after the halftime break, when Daniel Zapata and Marten de Roon put the ball behind Pau Lopez’ back.

In the second half Roma’s manager Paulo Fonseca tried to change something with the inclusion of Nikola Kalinic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but this changed nothing. Meanwhile Justin Kluivert and Javier Pastore remained on the bench.

Lecce are trying to win their first points at home against Roma, but against the Wolves it won’t be an easy task. Roma suffered a dissapointing loss in the previous round, so Fonseca’s boys will try to regroup and show their true worth. We regard the visitors a favourite here, especially given Lecce’s bad home record so far.
