Leipzig – Bayern Munich
Looking to take the top spot in the Bundesliga again, the champion Bayern Munich visits the current leader RB Leipzig in a game from the fourth round. This promises to be a really exciting clash at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
RB Leipzig are doing very well since Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment at the club. The former manager of Hoffenheim led the team to three consecutive wins since the start of the season. In the first round Leipzig achieved a win over the newcomers Union Berlin, which was followed by another two wins over Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia M’gladbach.
In the previous round RB Leipzig had a pretty difficult visit to Borussia M’gladbach, but they still managed to win the game. The German international Timo Werner was the big hero for the visitors, scoring a hattrick, while Breel Embolo’s goal for Monchengladbach was all from the hosts.
The champion Bayern Munich started the season in an unexpected way, doing a 0-0 home draw against Hertha BSC. But the Bavarians quickly fixed their mistake, winning two consecutive times against Schalke 04 and Mainz 05. In these two games FC Hollywood scored nine goals, which is really impressive.
Against Mainz in the previous round Niko Kovac put the new signings Phillippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic in the starting line-up. The Brazilian international had an average game, while Perisic scored his first goal for the club. Meanwhile Bayern showed their strenght and won the match with 6-1. The French defender Benjamin Pavard also scored his first goal for Bayern, while the youngster Alphonso Davies also scored. David Alaba, Kingsley Coman and Robert Lewandowski recorded their names on the scoresheet as well.
This match on Saturday promises to be incredibly interesting. RB Leipzig are leading the Bundesliga standings, but Bayern Munich showed in their last two matches that they are starting to reach their peak level in the beginning of the season. Let’s see what’s going to happen.
