Liverpool – Leicester City

Liverpool hosts Leicester City at the Anfield in a game from the 9th round of the Premier League. The champions are in a difficult situation because of having too many injured players. Could it be a chance for Leicester to hurt them?

There are a lot of problems on Jurgen Klopp’s shoulders right now. Many of defenders are injured with Virgil van Dijk being the leading one. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are sidelined as well. Klopp must make a serious effort to build a solid line-up as Mohamed Salah is also sidelined with COVID-19.

In the standings Liverpool are currently third with 17 points – just one point less than their next opponent and current leader Leicester City. We don’t have any doubts that Liverpool are as strong as they were last season, but they are being plagued with injuries lately.

Diogo Jota is one of the players in-form at Liverpool. The Portuguese winger is a revelation since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers. It’s not a coincedence that he is starting to become a permanent starter in the team.

Leicester City are having a marvelous start of the new season in the Premier League. The Foxes are leading the standings with 18 points won and they are pretty serious about reaching the Champions League again. Last season Leicester finished the season outside the Top 4, but now they look even stronger.

Before the break Leicester enjoyed their third consecutive win in the league. Brendan Rodgers’ team hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers and enjoyed a difficult, but important 1-0 win. The Foxes’ star Jamie Vardy scored the only goal in the game from a penalty kick.
