Midtjylland – Silkeborg

After a disastrous beginning of the new season in the Danish Superliga, Midtjylland hosts Silkeborg in a match from the second round of the league.

The new campaign didn’t start good at all for Midtjylland. They were thrashed with 0-4 by Brondby in the first round of the league, which was far away from the start of the new season they were dreaming about.

Now Midtjylland have the chance to redeem themselves in their first home game for the season. They are playing in Europa League this season, so the expectations towards them are pretty high. And it’s understandable – they are one of the best teams in Denmark at the moment.

Their next opponent Silkeborg also started the new season with a loss. They were beaten with 1-2 away from home by Lyngby. Now they will have to play for a second time in a row at hostile ground. Can they do better?

During the week Midtjylland did pretty well in the Europa League. They beat the Hungarian Ferencvaros with 3-1 at home and reached the next round of the competition with a aggregate score of 7-3.

Midtjylland are one of the teams who could eventually beat København for the title. Just like they did a few years ago. It won’t be easy task, but with more consistency everything is possible.

And if Midtjylland want to prove that they are consistent enough for winning the league, they must start showing it. And the match against Silkeborg is a good chance of doing that.

As for Silkeborg, last season they finished the regular season among the teams who fought against relegation. This is probably going to be their main goal this season as well – avoiding relegation in the 1st Division. They didn’t start too well the new campaign, but let’s see if they are going to be able to improve.
