Napoli – Sassuolo

The leader in the Italian Serie A Napoli hosts Sassuolo in a match from the 11th round of the Italian Serie A.

Napoli are leading the Serie A standings with 28 points won so far. Maurizio Sarri’s team has a near perfect record of 9 wins and just one draw from the beginning of the season. They have two points advantage in front of Inter on the top of the league. So far they are playing like a team who is a real contender for the gold medals.

Sassuolo on the other hand are 15th in the league with 8 points won so far. Their record is two wins, two draws and six losses. It’s clear that their potential at the moment is allowing them to fight for survival and nothing more. They are an average team, who can hardly do anything significant in the league this season.

In terms of current form, these two teams could be hardly compared. Napoli won four of its last five games in the league and lost points only during the home draw against Inter. Meanwhile Sassuolo suffered three defeats in their last five games and managed to win just once – against SPAL away from home.

The home team in this game can’t rely on the injured Domenico Berardi, Timo Letschert and Cristian Dell’Orco, while Davide Frattesi is doubtful.

Napoli is in almost full squad for this clash, with the only absence being the one of the striker Arkadiusz Milik, who is still recovering from a serious knee injury.

It’s hard to think that Napoli will allow any mistakes against Sassuolo, especially at home. They have a Champions League game with Manchester City just a few days later, but it’s clear that Serie A is Napoli’s priority at the moment. Expect to see them fully motivated against Sassuolo at the Stadio San Paolo.
