Newcastle United – Chelsea
Newcastle United faces Chelsea at the St. James’ Park in a game from the 23th round of the Premier League. Let’s see what’s happening with these two teams before their clash in Northern England on Saturday.
Newcastle United are in their best shape since the start of the season. The Magpies won just one point in their last four matches, losing three of them. The manager Steve Bruce has some work to do in order to wake up his players and get them back on the right path. He’s an experienced manager, so we believe he can do it. Let’s see.
Last week Newcastle stopped their bad run of three consecutive losses in the league, which was a good start. The team visited Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux and went home with a point after a 1-1 draw. The Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron scored for the Magpies after just 7 minutes of playing, but Wolves equalised soon after this. Still it was a good point won at a very difficult ground to play at.
Chelsea are doing good lately, winning two of their last three games in the league and being unbeaten. At this moment the Blues are 4th in the league with 39 points and they are in a good position to chase a Champions League qualification at the end of the campaign. It’s not perfect, but we can say that Frank Lampard is doing okay in his first season managing Chelsea.
Last week the Londoners secured their 12th win for the season in the Premier League. Chelsea hosted Burnley and crushed their opponent with 3-0 at the Stamford Bridge. Jorginho opened the score via a penalty kick, while Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi finished the visitors with two more goals.
It will be hard for Newcastle against Chelsea on Saturday, because the visitors are in a pretty good shape at the moment. Let’s see.
