Sevilla – Deportivo Alaves
Sevilla welcomes Deportivo Alaves in a game from the last 38th round of the Spanish La Liga. The game is going to be played at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Sevilla. Here is our examination of this match.
Sevilla started the season with big ambition. Last year they finished the Top 4 and qualified for the Champions League, where they reached the 1/4-finals. Everyone expected to see Sevilla fighting once again for the Top 4. But it didn’t go like this.
Right now Sevilla are 7th in La Liga and they can’t finish better than this. Sevilla have 55 points and being 7th is the best they can do until the end of the season. Which is dissapointing. Even the managerial chance of Eduardo Berizzo with Vincenzo Montella didn’t help Sevilla. They were very inconsistent in La Liga and this is the reason why they were left out of the Top 4.
In the tournaments Sevilla did a little bit better. How we said, they reached the 1/4-finals of the Champions League and the final of the Copa del Rey, where they lost against Barcelona.
Because of the inconsistency of the team, most likely the Italian manager Enzo Montella is going to leave the club after this game. Montella arrived in Sevilla with huge ambitions, but the former Milan manager didn’t fit very well to La Liga.
Deportivo Alaves on the other hand had a really interesting season. In a certain moment Alaves were close to the releagation, but with time they managed to improve their performance. Now Alaves are 12th in La Liga and they could even improve this position if they win at Sevilla. In their last five matches Deportivo Alaves won three times and lost twice. In the last round they achieved a 3-1 win over Athletic Club at home.
