Villarreal restarted their La Liga season with a win. After three months without football due to COVID-19 the Yellow Submarine visited Celta in Vigo and celebrated a dramatic 1-0 win. The winning goal in the game was scored in the 92th minute when Manu Trigueros put the ball behind Ruben Blanco’s back. It was a little bit lucky situation for Villarreal, but Celta should have been aware that a game is played until the final whistle.
With this win Villarreal kept their 8th place in La Liga. At this point they are having 41 points, being just two points behind the 7th Valencia. This season the 7th place would give a right to participate in Europa League, so Villarreal will have a fight for it, that’s clear.
Villarreal’s manager Javi Calleja is having some trouble before the next game. He can’t use Bruno, Ramiro Mori and Ramiro Guerra who are all injured.
Mallorca will try to recover after their 0-4 defeat against Barcelona on Saturday. They tried to give the Catalans some fight and have some good situations in the first half, but Barca were much stronger. Kubo played a good game for Mallorca and troubled the Catalans on few occasions, but it was not enough.
After this defeat Mallorca remain in the relegation zone of La Liga. They are currently 18th in the league with 25 points, just one point behind the 17th Celta. They still have hopes for survival, but they need positive results. It’s as simpe as that.
